MangoXchange position openings – Level 2
Systems Administrator
MangoXchange is currently seeking a level 2 systems
administrator (highest level, aside from the Senior Systems
Administrator) to work in our shared hosting and dedicated server
support departments, as well as assist with various internal
development projects. The work schedule for this position is
full-time, five days a week, however applicants must have flexible
hours.

Typical Level 2 Systems Administrator
Requirements
- Exceptional communication and
interpersonal skills
- Must be proficient in the areas
of English, both written and spoken
- Good knowledge of the web
hosting industry
- At least five years
professional systems administration experience
- At least three years experience
with Linux (as a server OS)
- Previous experience with the
RedHat Linux distribution
- Intimate knowledge of the
Cpanel/WHM software platform
- Extensive experience with the
following server software: Apache, ProFTPD, Exim, MySQL, BIND,
OpenSSH
- Ability to remotely configure
and compile a Linux kernel from source
- Advanced knowledge of the Perl
programming language
- Knowledge of x86 hardware, and
the ability to troubleshoot hardware issues
- Knowledge of fundamental
networking principles and tools (OSI network model, TCP/IP,
Ethernet, etc.)
The following skills are
not required, but would be helpful:
- Experience with Cisco IOS and
Cisco networking equipment
- Expert level Perl programming
skills
- Network and server security
experience (NIDSs, firewalls, access lists, ipchains, iptables,
etc.)
Position Details
Level 2 systems administrators are responsible for
providing technical support to all types of customers: shared hosting,
dedicated servers, co-location and Cpanel license.
In addition, level 2 systems administrators are
given programming assignments related to MangoXchange’s services
(control panel upgrades/modifications, backend management systems,
network/service monitoring, etc). The majority of our
programming is done in Perl, so extensive experience with the Perl
programming language is a must.
General Information
As stated above, this position is contractual: 60
hours a week. Applicants need not possess all of the skills
listed above to apply. More important than the applicant’s
current skill set is the applicant’s ability to learn new skills
quickly. Good interpersonal and communication abilities, as well
as above-average troubleshooting and analytical skills are the most
important criteria for an applicant. Previous employer
references are preferred, but not required—we are willing to
consider all applicants.
